Behind The Scenes - Episode 7
Recently, we have been sharing with you the daily life of the team by opening the backstage doors to you, giving a voice to those who work in the shadows to allow you to live an exceptional experience. For our seventh episode, we’ll chat with Laura, our Head baker.
How long have you been on the Team?
Laura Limas : I met Aurelien in 2018, and we started the Sa Calobra Cycling Club together. I have been cooking for the camps for four years. In 2023, with the increase in camps, and more hungry cyclists coming, we decided to hire Uli, to be our main Chef. From now on, I’ll focus more on baking cakes for the riders.
Coffee and cake seem to be important in the cycling culture, right?
L.L Yes, I didn’t know about that before. Some guys seem to only ride their bike to get the reward of having a piece of cake! Makes me consider taking up cycling ha ha ha. But seriously, we know how hungry cyclists can get after a long day on the saddle. It is very important to provide good nutrients to recover. I think the riders who have joined us know that I am a big fan of vegetables, but I also believe you should "treat yo self"! They are on vacation after all.
Which cake is their favorite?
L.L I would say that the zucchini bread and the carrot cake are some of their favorites. Uli also make a delicious almond cake, which is traditional in Mallorca. They love it! We try to make healthy versions, using less sugar, and maybe sneaking in some vegetables!
Do they have cake everyday?
L.L No! .CC stands for Cycling Club, not Coffee and Cake ha ha ha. But they get cake 3 to 4 times a week at least, especially after the long rides.
